Chapter 2: Mapping Change

The work of this month will be mapping what is new and changing in your surrounding community. God calls us to change to respond to changing conditions—what change is happening?

Chapter 3: Mapping Communication
April 19 – May 22, 2025
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. Now there were devout Jews from every people under heaven living in Jerusalem. And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. Amazed and astonished, they asked, ‘Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language?’

In this month we will think about how our community communicates (with words and without words), how our meeting communicates (with and without words), and how we can speak and listen “in tongues”.

Chapter 1: Taking Inventory
May 25 – June 15, 2025
For as in one body we have many members and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the encourager, in encouragement; the giver, in sincerity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.
Romans 12:4-8
In this month we will take inventory of our meeting’s capacity, with special attention to giftedness. Quaker Jan Wood says, “Spiritual giftedness is a portion of God’s heart and power flowing through us.” By understanding our own gifts better, we can better be faithful to the specific work we are most empowered to do. By understanding the gifts of each other, we can see how our community works best together.
